Accelerating a Just and Sustainable Energy Transition in Africa

Our colleague Abel LEMOS was pleased to contribute to ICC Kenya Business Summit 2026 in a panel dedicated to the decarbonization of African power systems, alongside committed partners from across the sector.

The discussion was an opportunity to reaffirm a core belief: modern, resilient and digitalized distribution networks are central to achieving an inclusive and successful energy transition.

The panel highlighted several priorities where EDF International Networks brings proven expertise:

🌍 supporting a just transition, placing access to electricity, territorial equity and service reliability at the heart of utility strategies;
⚡ deploying smart grid solutions to integrate more renewable energy while strengthening system performance;
📊 harnessing data through advanced metering and digital supervision tools to improve operational efficiency, reduce losses and inform investment decisions;
🚗 anticipating the rapid growth of e‑mobility, which are reshaping consumption patterns and require forward‑looking network planning;
🏛️ working closely with governments, regulators and financiers to establish the institutional and financial enablers that make projects scalable and sustainable.

This session reinforced the essential role that EDF International Networks and its partners can play in supporting African utilities as they modernize their networks and build long‑term, resilient and low‑carbon systems.

Thank you to George Aluru, Julius Opio and Joy B. Masinde for the depth and quality of the discussions.

At EDF International Networks, we believe that a team’s strength comes not only from everyone’s expertise but also from the quality of the human connections that unite us.

This week, three of our colleagues Lispice AGOSSOU , Eméfa DJONDO , Afi Gagli, from Togo and Benin treated us to a breakfast featuring flavors from their home countries, along with a wonderful cultural sharing moment where they introduced us to their traditions.

It was an authentic, inspiring, and deeply human experience.

This type of initiative goes far beyond simple conviviality:
✨ team cohesion is a real driver of performance,
✨ a key factor in well‑being and workplace organization,
✨ and a major pillar for strengthening individual engagement.

When we take the time to get to know each other better—to understand our cultures and our journeys—our collaboration becomes smoother, more cooperative, and more effective.

🙏 A heartfelt thank you to them for this culinary and cultural journey, which helps nurture a united team that is open to the world and proud of its diversity.

🌍 A successful and high-value training week at the Medium Voltage Live Line Works Campus in Ottmarsheim.

As part of our ongoing collaboration with ΔΕΔΔΗΕ Α.Ε. – HEDNO S.A., the Greek electricity distribution operator, we had the opportunity to deliver a trainers training program focused on Live Line Works distance and contact methods on MV networks (TST HTA).

🔶 Our commitment: to share our proven expertise through rigorous methodology, strong pedagogical standards, and operational excellence built on extensive field experience.

🔶 Key components of the training program:
🔹 Practical application on 20 kV systems, with a focus on regulation, distance and contact live‑working methods,
🔹 In‑depth pedagogical, theorical and practical sessions led by our certified technical trainers,
🔹 A technical tour of our french regulation committee, testing and repair laboratory, offering full insight into diagnostic and maintenance processes,
🔹 A visit to one of our equipment supplier partners, providing additional perspective on technologies and solutions used in live‑working environments.

This intensive week was highly valued by the HEDNO teams, reinforcing the relevance of our training approach and paving the way for a long‑term and trusted partnership.

👏 We extend our sincere thanks to our training teams and to all participants for their professionalism, engagement, curiosity and constructive exchanges throughout the week.

🔹 We look forward to continuing this collaboration with HEDNO and supporting their future initiatives.
