Reducing grid losses and improving network performance

In Mozambique, reducing technical and non-technical losses is, along with electrification of the country, one of the 2 major challenges facing Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM). 

Since 2019, the company has been committed to a global strategy aimed at gradually improving the efficiency of the distribution network. As part of this strategy, EDF International Network has been working with the electricity operator since 2023 to roll out an operational action plan aimed at:

• • Consolidate control of the calculation of the Energy Balance
  • Organise and implement processes for detecting and treating NTPs
  • Train EDM operators in these processes

 
Our commitment is to provide technical and organisational expertise to support EDM in optimising its network. Established for a period of 2.5 years, the project is financed by the European Union and the funds are managed by AFD.
