EDF international networks welcomes the latin American CIER delegation to Paris

As part of an international exchange program, EDF International Networks had the pleasure of hosting in Paris a delegation from the CIER (Comisión de Integración Energética Regional), bringing together representatives from the energy sectors of several South and center American countries.

A week of discovery and exchange on the French energy system

The purpose of this visit was to explore how the French energy market operates, share best practices, and broaden participants’ perspectives on various energy distribution and management models.

Throughout a dynamic week, the delegation met with EDF IN teams to learn about the company’s mission, areas of expertise, and the services it offers to network operators internationally.

Focus on smart distribution and innovative solutions

Highlights of the program included:

  • A detailed presentation of the ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) used by French distribution operators, with a focus on RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) and their role in modern grid operations.
  • A field visit to a primary substation in the Hauts-de-France region (Amiens), providing a practical look at the operation of a strategic site and its processes.
  • A dedicated session on the deployment of AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), associated communication technologies, and the evolution of smart grids in France.

Sector experts also shared their experience in developing intelligent metering systems and the challenges of the energy transition.

A valuable exchange for all

This technical and strategic immersion gave the South American delegation a deeper understanding of the French energy model and inspiration for their own systems. Participants praised the quality of the discussions and the relevance of the site visits.
