On July 2, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between EDF International Networks and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) of Thailand during a ceremony at the French Embassy in Bangkok. This agreement marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at modernizing the electrical grids and supporting the energy transition in both countries.
A Partnership for Smart and Sustainable Grids
This agreement initiates a strategic partnership to intensify efforts in deploying smart meters and digitalizing electrical networks. It also aims to promote the integration of renewable energy and electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Thailand.
This initiative is part of the mutual commitment of both companies to support the energy transition in their respective territories.
A Response to Environmental and Economic Challenges
The agreement will allow PEA to benefit from the expertise of EDF International Networks, particularly in the large-scale deployment of smart solutions. These innovations aim to address the growing environmental challenges while supporting the modernization of Thailand’s energy infrastructure.
During the ceremony, Eric Beaujean, CEO of EDF International Networks, stated:
“By combining our skills and resources, this agreement strengthens our shared commitment to addressing the challenges of the energy transition, while fostering economic growth and environmental preservation.”
Beyond the technical challenges, this partnership reflects a strengthening of bilateral relations between France and Thailand. Supported by both countries’ authorities, this cooperation reflects a shared goal to promote an ambitious and sustainable energy transition.
